North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe is accepting nominations for the 2026 North Dakota Election Hero Award. This honor celebrates the importance of election teams, poll workers, policymakers, and other individuals and groups who support the administration of North Dakota’s elections.

The North Dakota Office of the Secretary of State is recognizing Poll Worker Recruitment Day on August 11, 2026, by encouraging citizens to volunteer as election poll workers for the upcoming November General Election. It’s an opportunity for North Dakotans to learn more about the election process while ensuring polling locations are open for friends and neighbors in their community. 

The North Dakota Office of the Secretary of State announces that Lynnell Popowski has officially withdrawn her name from the November General Election ballot for the office of State Representative of District 19, Democratic–NPL.

The State Canvassing Board certified the 2026 Primary Election results today, making them official for state, judicial, and legislative contests. Election results were submitted by the 53 county canvassing boards, which are responsible for reviewing the election results from each precinct within their county. In addition to reviewing election results for all contests on the ballot, county canvassing boards are required to certify their county contests 13 days after election day

20.84 percent of eligible North Dakotans cast 125,101 ballots during the 2026 Primary Election as reported on election night. Election results will not be official until the state canvassing board meets later this month.

Unofficial results as of election night included 73,476 votes cast on election day, 17,287 ballots by early vote, and 34,338 absentee ballots. 41% of the total vote was cast during absentee and early voting.
