The North Dakota Office of the Secretary of State invites creative minds of all ages to submit original artwork for our official “I Voted” sticker design. This isn’t just a contest - it’s your chance to become part of North Dakota election history! Your design will be More than Just a Sticker, it will be distributed at polling places statewide and worn proudly by voters as they celebrate their participation in democracy.

Who Can Participate?

The Voting Sticker design contest is open to North Dakota residents of any age. Minors must have parent/guardian consent.

What Does the Winning Artist Receive?

  • Personal congratulatory letter from Secretary of State Michael Howe
  • Guest of Honor at the unveiling ceremony in March in Bismarck, ND
  • Professionally framed copy of your winning design
  • Official recognition as North Dakota’s “I Voted” sticker designer
  • Statewide press release featuring your work

When Can I Submit My Design?

Designs can be submitted online or by mail from September 15 - November 15, 2025.

Artists will need to include a brief artist statement describing their design concept and a fully completed, legible entry form with their submission. Submissions are limited to one per person.

By submitting your design, you grant the ND Secretary of State full ownership, printing, and reproduction rights to your artwork.

The ND Secretary of State is not responsible or liable for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network server or other connections; miscommunications; failed computer or telephone transmissions; technical failures; jumbled, scrambled, or misdirected transmissions; or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, or electronic.

Incorrect, incomplete, mutilated, multiple, late, and any other types of defective entries will be automatically disqualified.

Except where prohibited by law, contest entry constitutes express permission for ND Secretary of State to use any and all winners’ names and designs for promotional purposes.

Original artists will retain credit and recognition.

All submissions become property of the ND Secretary of State for all purposes and will not be returned or acknowledged.

The ND Secretary of State retains exclusive rights to all winning designs.

By entering the contest, all artists allow the ND Secretary of State to use, reproduce, edit, or publish, in any medium or media, their submission, in whole or in part, for any purpose in perpetuity.

The ND Secretary of State does not accept responsibility for an entrant’s failure to comply with these Official Contest Terms and Conditions, and all entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the ND Secretary of State against any claims by any third party for the ND Secretary of State’s use of the entrant’s submission.

Design Requirements

  • Must include the words “I Voted”
  • Cannot include any specific year
  • No political party references or partisan messaging
  • Must be original artwork (any medium accepted - digital, hand-drawn, painted, etc.)
  • Content must be suitable for all ages and professional printing
  • AI-generated artwork is not acceptable
  • Copyright-protected images may not be used. Your entry must be your own work, must not contain any third-party content you do not have permission to use, and must not infringe upon the rights of any other party.

Technical Specifications

  • Design must fit within a 2-inch diameter circle, you may use the provided template
  • For digital submissions: PNG, JPG or PDF
  • Minimum resolution: 300 DPI for print quality
  • Bold, clear designs work best for printing
