BISMARCK, N.D. - In the November 2026 General Election, school bond measures in Bismarck and Surrey failed because they require 60% of the vote to pass.

  • Bismarck Public School District Measure No. 1 received 56.74% of votes.
  • Surrey School District Measure No. 1 received 59.46% of votes.

The Election Night Results website is built to host multiple measures, and not all of them have the same rules for passage. Most are a simple majority, but bond issues require a 60% passage rate. The website will show a green checkmark on measures if a simple majority is met. This means that a bond measure would have the green checkmark if it has a simple majority, even though it did not pass with at least 60% of votes.
